    In a previous edition of Mix Roundup, I linked to a mix by San Francisco beatsmithEskmo, a trip through his own productions and remixes. Happily, Planet Mu has seen fit to give his new single wide release and based on these two tracks, I can only hope there is more to come. “Let Them Sing” is a bass drum heavy giant, with a creaking reflex underneath the beat, lovely synth work pushing the momentum along, with the vocoder title repeated throughout, giving us a sense of a sad robot, moving along the dancefloor, trying to make sense of this intersection of technology and body rhythm. Flipside “From The Standpoint” is a somewhat bigger track, actually. The pensive intro giving way to a more epic melody of large synths, backed by a similarly thick drum pattern, this time sounding even more mechanical. This mix of mechanical rhythms and bright, colorful melodies is where Eskmo excels, pushing a fresh sound that owes more than a little to glitch/IDM music from the past decade. Hearing these immense tracks on a proper club system would be a unique and energetic experience.
