Active since the early nineties also as Plug and Wagon Christ, Luke Vibert is at his first CD for Planet Mu. LOVER'S ACID is a collection of three 12" released by the label ("Luke Vibert", "Homewerk" and "Lover's Acid") and it gathers twelve tracks of acid electronic lounge music. Drum'n'bass, jungle and techno are the ground where the Luke's patterns are looped and if tracks like "Come on chaos" or "Dirty fucker" are a good example of electronic soul

After his fabulous acid trip YosepH, Vibert is back to his old tricks. On Lover’s Acid, cheesy, loungy synths and annoying, tired samples make for a real disappointment. (He even samples “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life”!) There are occasional 303 sounds here as on his last album, but unlike Yoseph the tracks seem hastily put together. Vibert can make some really nice music, but he’s terribly inconsistent. This happy, empty schlock reminds me of

Have you ever noticed that people don't really write about snooker? It's on
TV for hours on end, several times a year, watched by millions of viewers
(all addicted the sleepy click of the balls and the soporific tone of the
commentary). But you never see it in the papers. Football gets splashed all
over the back page, rugby and tennis too, but snooker? Nope. Maybe a

Note that the “Lover’s” in the title is singular and possessive, not plural. This suggests that the music therein documents the story of an acid lover, rather than the way in which acid touched the relationship of two lovers. Is Luke Vibert the (acid) lover in question?
