    Julian Fane - Special Forces

    Julian Fane – Special Forces
"Canadian 21-year-old ex-stock broker Julian Fane debuts his songwriting skills on 'Special Forces' – 21, an ex-stockbroker and a songwriter… (OK, a Canadian songwriter, but no one's perfect)… he must be every woman's dream! Fortunately his music is not 'for the laydees' like fellow Canadian and self-styled troubadour Bryan Adams. Julian's inspiration stems from such diverse artists as The Flaming Lips, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Radiohead, Sigur Ros and The Smiths. These influences are apparent in each of the 12 tracks, the varied electronic beats, synths and chimes combining with haunting vocals to create an album rich in ambience. But, at 56 minutes and counting, it's a tad long winded to be captivating. In essence, music to listen to while doing something else."
