    Luke Vibert - Homewerk

It's been a while since Wagon Christ, aka Luke Vibert, has made what you might call a dancefloor record, so it's good to see him back with such a cool release. unashamedly party-ish without being even remotely cheesy, the acid-fuelled, midtempo breaks and old school samples make this a surefire backroom hit.

(Beats & Breaks single of the issue 4-17 May)

Always good for something a bit fresh, Luke Vibert and his many monikers have provided many a fine breaks moment. Here he shows his well-placed love of the 303 with an EP of old skool acid trax. Luke Vibert - Homewerk

Allowed to indulge his fondness for acid house, Luke Vibert sticks together four tracks of sonic wizardry that'll rock from Futurama back to Bedrock. Not that this is acid 2002 style - this stuff is fimly based in 1989 120 bpm funky mode. Kraftwerk get a run in with james Brown's 'Funky Drummer'; and there's a welter of uplifting pianos, old skool vocals, chunky breaks and whacked out 303 squiggles, all wrung through the sampler in Vibert's addictive style. Viva la acid house! *****

Bushy's Eclectic Single Of The Month:

The second on Mu from a man like Luke V and, it has to be said, this is absolutely superb. Vibert has raided his old acid and rave samples and sounds collection and come up with a four-tracker where every tune rocks like a drunken killer. Monstrous! 8/10 Bushy: (After literally one second) "Single Of The Month! This is absolutely brilliant, I could listen to those breaks and acid lines all day, every day, forever. The production is superb too, there's not a duff moment on it!"
