Its only been just over a year since the first subtext 12" by vex'd 'pop pop/canyon' dropped into range with a neck snapping kick/snare and bass wobble combo that sent heads either running for cover or shouting from the rooftops. With a succession of 12"s and tracks on labels like destructive and planet mu now under his belt, vex'd has found time to deliver a defining moment in the development of the genre loosely termed dubstep or grime. the new vex'd record on planet-mu is phenomenal. intense and powerful, head shaking stuff. both in disbelieve at just how great it is and physically; listening to it with phones on will jar your skull. it is brutal sonic armageddon. it penetrates and crushes, resonates and rumbles: total audio assault.
pretty much on top of the dubstep game right now, vex'd have produced the first defining album of the scene. the cd format will

An entire summer passed without me publishing a single album review for Brainwashed, or any other site for that matter. Compact discs and press releases arrived via post regularly, typically finding a home in piles at the far end of my desk, next to a dust-collecting drum machine. Call it a lack of motivation, call it laziness, yet, on this unseasonably warm autumn night, I have returned. It took the best album of 2005 to accomplish that.
