'404 Not Found', the third album from Dublin duo Decal sees the elder statesmen of Irish electronica finally come of age and deliver on their considerable potential.
For a band with a long-held love of dissonance, '404 Not Found' is a surprisingly soothing listen. Opener 'Moylough' consists mostly of fractured piano arpeggios, not entirely dissimilar to the Aphex Twin's quieter moments. But if you are looking for easy listening then look elsewhere. Decal's

decal are one of the few acts delivering quality electronic music out of ireland. nonetheless, we here at absorb are familiar with them through their sterling work in the electro department. they also appeared on the 2 lone swordsmen remix album 'further reminders'. but whereas electro and techno have prided themselves on being music that contains rhythms that are, as quincy jones once put it "nailed down with spikes". this album moves away from those aforementioned

Decal - Irish duo Alan O'Boyle and Dennis McNulty - are one of those rare things: a production crew who've refused to be tied to any particular sound. If they're best known for anything, it's their electro-funk output; however, "404 Not Found" is a remarkably human affair, despite that it is almost entirely electronic-sounding (save for a few dabs of vocals and live instrumentation here and there).
